ALCTS Presidents Program for 2002 AnnouncedCultivating the Human Moment in a Digital Age will be presented on Monday, June 17, 10 A.M.12:30 P.M., SheratonCapitol North and Center. The featured speaker will be Edward Hallowell, an expert in the field of psychological and emotional well-being. He has described how electronic communication limits workplace opportunities for "the human moment," face-to-face contact that results in valuable social and psychological benefits. Can we find ways to promote efficient and productive communication while preserving human moments? A panel of four librarians will relate Hallowells remarks to the working environment in libraries: Michael Gorman (California State University, Fresno), Olivia Madison (Iowa State University, Ames), DeEtta Jones (Association for Research Libraries), and Andrew Dillon (University of Texas Graduate School of Library and Information Science, Austin). The annual ALCTS Awards Presentation will precede the program. Please arrive by 9:30 A.M. to attend the awards segment and honor our colleagues who have been selected as award recipients for their contributions to ALA and the library profession. |
