Role of the Professional Librarian in Technical Services IG

Composition

The group has one or two chairs and one or two vice-chairs, all serving for one year.  After the Annual Conference, the chairs are succeeded by the current vice-chairs, who in turn appoint one or two volunteers as the new vice-chairs.

Origin

The group was first established as a discussion group and has existed since May 1999 or earlier.

Get Involved

Meetings are open, and everyone interested in professional issues in technical services is invited to attend. Attendees who wish to participate in organizing future group meetings are encouraged to volunteer as vice-chairs at or after the Annual Conference. Volunteers must be able to attend Midwinter Meetings and Annual Conferences for the following two years and must be able to work between conferences via e-mail and ALA Connect.
