Technical Services Directors of Large Research Libraries Interest Group (Big Heads)

Charge

To meet and discuss informally problems within the field of technical services which are common to the administration of large research libraries.

Roster

When you are logged in as an ALA member, the roster will display the committee members' contact information, in addition to their names, positions, and terms.

Composition

Membership is limited to the technical services directors of:
  • the 24 largest ARL university libraries (including the Canadian libraries);
  • one non-ARL university library (Stanford University);
  • two public libraries which meet the same criteria as the 24 largest ARL research libraries; and
  • three national libraries (standing members)
Membership is reviewed every three years. See the most recent membership review.

Established Annual Conference 1963.

Get Involved

Active participation is reserved primarily for the interest group membership, but guests are welcome in the audience at Midwinter Meetings and Annual Conferences.
