  2. Reports updating the publications activities of the Paper Series, LRTS, and ANO were given by editors, Pamela Bluh, Peggy Johnson and Miriam Palm respectively. Summaries are attached. Janet Belanger could not attend the meeting due to a conflict. Copies of their reports have been distributed to the committee.
  3. Douglas Litts reported on the search for the ANO Editor. The search committee has met. This is a three-year appointment with an option for renewal. If approved by the ALCTS Board interviewing for the position will be conducted during 2005 ALA Annual in Chicago. March 31st is the deadline for applicants. The job description will be publicized on the electronic lists and the ALCTS home page.
  4. The Section Liaisons reported on activities in their respective section publications committees. (See their report). John David McDonald, Douglas Litts, Jeanne M. Drewes, Robert Alan and Norm Medeiros reported. Narda requested that Section Liaisons send her their reports so that she could compile them and send them to the committee.
  5. Charles Wilt updated the committee on various publications issues. In response to a question regarding whether LMPI could be put into a manipulatable format, either MS Word or Excel, Charles said that he would look into it.
    1. The Foreign Book Dealers Directory is ready to be input.
    2. Preservation Education Directory, 8th edition is now up on the ALCTS website.

  6. Narda distributed the ALCTS Publications Goals for 2004-05 along with a blank spreadsheet form. Since a replacement has not yet been found for Kirsten Ahlen, Narda requested that Section Liaisons fill in the spreadsheet for their section and return them to her so that she could compile and send out the filled sheet to the committee.
  7. The committee discussed support staff publications needs. Narda will ask Charles to provide additional clarification on what types of publications ALCTS is interested in producing for support staff. Narda said that she would contact Karen Letarte, Chair, ALCTS Education to determine what types of programs are being developed so that publications could be produced to support them.
  8. Since there was no time left for discussion of the ALA Strategic Plan: Ahead to 2010 or the ALCTS Strategic Plan: 2006–10, Narda requested that comments for ALA be sent to her by January 26, 2005 and that comments for ALCTS be sent by February 10, 2005. She will compile them and send them on behalf of our committee to the appropriate individuals.
