Three years in preparation, this second edition addresses changes brought about by the integration of USMARC formats in 1995 and 1996, corrects errors discovered in the first edition, updates fields, subfields and indicators made obsolete in the interim. Citations (510 fields) are corrected to conform to the 1996 second edition of Standard Citation Forms for Published Bibliographies and Catalogs Used in Rare Book Cataloging (SCF). Also, the bibliography following the introduction has been updated to include tools currently available via the Internet.
