About the Cover
The cover illustration is a watercolor by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Elizabeth Bishop from the Elizabeth Bishop Papers collection in the Vassar College Libraries. Bishop attended Vassar as an English major, where she worked on the school newspaper and founded a literary magazine, Con Spirito, with fellow students Mary McCarthy, Eleanor Clark, and Muriel Rukeyser. The collection contains personal and professional correspondence, published and unpublished prose and poetry by Bishop, diaries, photos, artwork, memorabilia, and other items.
