Summary of Features and Articles

November 2008

Editorial: Issues in Scholarly Communication: Another Approach, by Irving E. Rockwood. Publishers and librarians have more in common than either group seems to realize.

Genocide Resources: 2000 to the Present, by John Jaeger, doctoral research and reference librarian at Dallas Baptist University.

In the twentieth century genocide occurred more frequently and took more lives than in any previous century, and the situation in Sudan suggests that the pattern has not changed. The study of genocide has become multidisciplinary, so Jaeger considers works in many disciplines, including economics, journalism, philosophy, and anthropology. Jaeger evaluates over 100 resources, focusing on print works published in the last eight years and resources put online in the last two decades.

Forthcoming Reference Titles. In the twenty-fourth annual installment of this feature, Choice highlights forthcoming reference titles scheduled for publication in November 2008 and later. Each of the titles on the list was suggested by the publisher and then selected by Choice for its relevance to undergraduate curricula.
