Editorial: Back to the Future, by Irving Rockwood. Choice's editor and publisher reviews the history of the current discord between scholarly publishers and libraries, and urges a more civil tone.
In Memoriam: Judith Douville. A tribute to Choice's longtime science editor, who died in September.
Greening the Library: The Fundamentals and Future of Ecocriticism, by Loretta Johnson, adjunct professor of humanities at Lewis & Clark College.
Ecocriticism—an interdisciplinary field within literary studies—examines how humans relate to the environment in literature. As an interdisciplinary project, ecocriticism draws on environmental studies, the natural sciences, and cultural studies. However, Johnson focuses on works within the ambit of studies in English and American literature, and in literary theory. The author evaluates Internet as well as print resources.
