ACRL/Harvard Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians

Cambridge, Massachusetts
August 2-7, 2009

Increase your capacity to lead and manage
Leadership of academic libraries has never been more challenging. Demands for new services frequently outstrip the resources—money, time, and people—that are available. Librarians look for more effective ways to make their voices heard as priorities are set campus-wide. And the constant expectation that they will provide articulate, effective leadership too often creates stresses in both their personal and professional lives.

In response to these challenges, the Harvard Institutes for Higher Education is collaborating with ACRL to present the Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians. The goal of this program is to increase your capacity to lead and to manage.  The program helps you answer two key questions:

Curriculum.  Click here for complete details about the ACRL/Harvard Leadership Institute curriculum and faculty.

Who should attend?  The Institute is limited to those with significant administrative responsibility in an institution of higher education, and who show high promise for making a significant contribution in the future, such as library directors, university librarians, and their associates and direct reports.  You will benefit most from the program if you:

How do I register?  The comprehensive program fee of $2,400 for ACRL members covers tuition, all program and instructional materials, refreshment breaks, lunch daily, an opening reception, and social events during the week. Participants are expected to have the endorsement of the institution you represent. Ordinarily, this is reflected in full financial support.

Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  We expect this Institute to fill quickly, so register as soon as possible.
