
Committee Background
Charge:
To educate and inform membership about the impact of technology on instruction by posting "Tips and Trends" topics on the IS web site and announcing the profiles on ILI-L. The committee is responsible for annually updating the "Classroom Control Systems" on the Section web site, including verifying existing listings and researching new systems. The committee is also responsible for updating the "Tips for Developing Effective Web-Based Instruction."

Meetings:
Committees generally meet twice at the Midwinter Meeting and once at the Annual Conference. Most meetings are open to visitors. Check the full schedule of IS meetings which is posted about one month before each conference and will be linked from the Instruction Section homepage.
Conference Minutes:
View minutes from committee meetings, by choosing a conference date and then the committee name. The committee will meet in person for the first time at ALA Midwinter in Seattle, WA in January 2007.

Tips and Trends
Each quarter committee members will focus on a new or emerging technology that is affecting library instruction. The profile is announced on ILI-L and posted on the committee web site.

The committee maintains this guide for developing effective library instruction online.
Classroom Control Systems
The committee maintains a list of various software and hardware options that allow instructors in networked classrooms to monitor and control students' workstations.
