Statement
I have spent 25 of my 40 years in education in the school library profession. Because I teach library science courses at Appalachian State University, I get to help school librarians as they start their journey into the exciting world of lifelong learning. In my regional education consultant job, I get to work with them in their chosen settings and help them problem solve and grow professionally by attending the staff development I plan for them. I feel that my strength is advocacy. I have always been, and will continue to be, in the librarians' corner on all issues! No less important is my passion for the integrity of library collections. I believe strongly that quality is superior to quantity. Children trust us to have the most up-to-date information possible. So my life work has been improving and building library collections, sometimes one at a time--a most worthy, rewarding experience!
