Accomplishments
I am/have been a regular presenter for many years at annual state library and education conferences in North Carolina and Oklahoma (e.g. North Carolina School Library Media Association, Oklahoma Encyclo-Media Conference, Oklahoma Library Association, etc.). I will be presenting at the AASL conference in Charlotte, Fall 2009. In my career as a school library media specialist I had the opportunity to design two state-of-the-art school library facilities, one elementary and the other a high school. My areas of research include the development of national school library media standards and school library media specialist education standards.
Statement
As an educator of future school library media specialists, I see this as an exciting time of change. With new AASL learning standards and the forthcoming AASL library guidelines, educators are challenged to make these documents viable and meaningful for our students. Working together with other library educators is an important part of this process and will allow us to develop successful strategies for change.
