Statement
While representing Wisconsin at Affiliate Assembly, I have found that much of what is accomplished at the national level is never fully conveyed to, or appreciated by, the building level practitioner. There is a seemingly endless list of critical issues: legislative advocacy, district budget cuts, standards implementation, filtering and online safety, etc. for which resources are being developed and action taken through AASL’s leadership. However, the vital target for this work to ensure success must be local. It is at the local level where decisions to collaborate, implement, value, and retain or cut are being made. As the Director-Elect and Director of Region III, I will work to identify effective methods for carrying AASL’s message and resources to our state and local members in order to maximize their impact on the profession at a local level.
