Statement
During this time of national change, school librarians also face new challenges and opportunities. How do we approach the adoption of web 2.0 tools, a greater emphasis on technology, even 1-1 laptop programs, without losing our mission? But what exactly is our mission now? Has it changed significantly? How well do we advocate for ourselves? I will address these issues with stimulating, even provocative, discussions and gatherings, utilizing the combined talents of all ISS members. We can expand our own use of web 2.0 tools to exchange ideas with blogs and wikis. I would also hope to expand our role in the AASL, bringing the independent school perspective to all of the division's programs. I have served on two AASL committees and found it to be an interesting experience. I look forward to the opportunity to serve as Chair-Elect and hope it will be a fun, interesting, and productive time.
