Get Involved at Your Child's School
Research shows that schools with strong school library media programs have higher rates of success. With this in mind, you may want to become more involved. There are several ways this can be accomplished.
There are often many tasks with which your child’s School Library Media Specialist may need assistance. By helping in the media center you will be able to see first hand how the school library media program impacts education. Involve Elected Officials
Contact your elected officials and let them know how school library media programs impact education. Especially in difficult economic times elected officials have a very difficult job of choosing where to allocate funds. If they view a program as unnecessary or as an extra feature, it will often be in danger of being cut. Try to be specific about your needs. If your school system does not have a certified School Library Media Specialist in every school, state the research that supports having one.
