AASL Electronic Discussion Lists

AASLFORUM

Informed discourse and lively debate advance AASL's mission to advocate excellence, facilitate change and develop leaders in the school library media field. The AASL Members Forum (AASLFORUM) -- a discussion list for AASL personal members-only -- affords the opportunity to participate in timely discussions of issues and new developments in school librarianship.

To subscribe to AASLFORUM:

  1. Go to http://lists.ala.org;
  2. Enter "aaslforum" in the Search lists box; and click the search button.
  3. Click on the aaslforum@ala.org link
  4. Click "Subscribe"
  5. Enter your email address and click "Submit"
  6. You will receive a message from the list server with your password and list specs (if applicable)

You can then use your password to maintain your lists, manage your subscriptions, unsubscribe, etc. - for all AASL lists you're subscribed to, as well as ALA and other divisions' discussion lists.

To manage your subscription(s)
Go to http://lists.ala.org, log in with your email address and password, and then click on "Your subscriptions", which will show you all AASL lists to which you've subscribed. Click on any of your lists. If you choose "subscriber options," you can change the way you receive mail from the lists (digest, normal, nomail, etc.) along with a description of what each reception method means. The "nomail" option, for example, allows you to continue to be a member of the list without receiving any mail--a great option for vacations or medical leave periods.

Account preferences
If you change your e-mail address or your name, you can log in, choose "preferences" from the upper right corner, and change the relevant information .

Archives
Archives are now easily searchable and viewable by month. To search, choose the list from which you wish to find archives, and click on "archives" in the left-hand navigation. Enter your search term in the box. If you'd rather search by date, the calendar at the top of the Archives page shows archives by month and year to 1998; choose the month you're looking for and you can view all posts to that particular list during that month.
