Williamson receives AASL appointment
ISS Data Committee chair Susan Williamson (Albuquerque Academy) has accepted a 2 year appointment to the AASL Research and Statistics Committee. This position will give Susan an opportunity to represent the concerns and ideas of ISS member libraries during future data collection efforts. - August 2007
Harpeth Hall Wins AASL Award
The Ann Scott Carell Library of Harpeth Hall has been awarded the National School Library Media Program of the Year award from AASL. The Director of Library and Information Services is ISS member Karen Douse .
The ALA press release reports "Harpeth Hall, in Nashville, Tennessee, has been named a winner in the Single School Category. Harpeth Hall is a private college prepatory school for girls in grades five through twelve. Library staff have instigated a vigorous outreach program to teachers in every curricular area, and work in partnership with their colleagues to instruct students in effective uses of technology and applications of research skills. Successful efforts have been made to increase and enhance student leisure reading, especially at the high school level. The library itself has become the physical hub of the campus, an inviting and appealing site for students and staff alike." 2007 ISS Election Results
The 2007 ISS elections results are in and the new chair-elect is Elizabeth Burke, from Georgetown Visitation School in Washington DC. The section's new secretary is Courtney Lewis , from Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, PA. Courtney will begin her secretarial duties at ALA in June. Elizabeth will be chair elect to our in-coming Chair, Alison Ernst, from Northfield Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts.
