To develop and carry out a mentoring and orientation program for new and continuing councilors and to manage the Council suite or lounge at the Midwinter Meeting and at the Annual Conference.Roster

Composition
Number of members at discretion of the Committee on Committees. Traditional there has been at least 7 or 8 committee members. Appointed annually. Number of members at discretion of the committee on committees.
Origin
Established as an Ad Hoc Committee of Council in January, 1975, and confirmed as a Special Council Committee in June of 1980. Later, the Council Orientation Committee became a standing ALA committee with regular two-year appointments.
Get Involved
ALA values committed and active committee members. Qualified members are welcome to volunteer to serve on [insert committee name here]. Committee members must have an interest in the work of the committee; be able to attend Annual Conferences and Midwinter Meetings to participate in the meetings and activities of the committee; and be able to work between conferences via e-mail and ALA Connect. Express your interest in serving on this or other committees by filling out an application form. Appointments take place once a year, during the spring.
