International Membership

Personal Membership in the American Library Association is available for librarians and library workers practicing outside of the United States at discounted rates. International Members receive full rights and benefits of ALA Membership including eligibility to serve on committees, run for office, and join any division or round table. The American Library Association will also extend official letters of invitation to our International Members upon request.

While many divisions and round tables will be interesting to you, our International Relations Round Table (IRRT) will be particularly relevant. IRRT creates connections between librarians in the United States and abroad, providing you with access to peers around the world who are interested in similar areas of librarianship as well as issues affecting library service delivery in various communities. The IRRT is staffed by our International Relations Office and is the center of activity for International Members around the association. IRRT membership is free upon request to ALA International Members residing outside of the United States.

Get started as a member today by joining ALA online.
