LITA Standards Coordinator
Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Track the development of information technology standards relevant to the work of LITA members
  • Establish a review process for draft or revised standards utilizing the expertise of the LITA membership
  • Anticipate the review of draft or revised standards and notify reviewers
  • Coordinate with other LITA and ALA units as appropriate
  • Participate in the activities of the LITA Standards Interest Group
  • Work with other library organizations to review need and provide input
  • Provide comment and review to ALA and/or standards organizations based upon the work of designated reviewers

Qualifications

  • Must have demonstrable record of interest/participation in the standards process
  • Must have a broad knowledge of current and emerging information and library technologies
  • Must be skilled in working with others, managing process, and meeting deadlines
  • Must be a LITA Member (can join if not already a member)
  • Must be familiar with LITA structure, Interest Groups, and other ALA units

Reports to:

  • LITA Board
  • Provides reports semi-annually to the LITA Board

Term

  • Two years, renewable once. Term begins at the end of ALA Annual Conference in summer 2006 and runs through Annual Conference 2008.

Compensation

  • Annual stipend or reimbursement of expenses for ALA Annual and Midwinter conference up to $1,000 annually.

Selected candidates will be contacted by December 19, 2005 to schedule in-person interviews at the Midwinter Meeting of the American Library Association in San Antonio, TX. The appointment will begin following the ALA Annual Conference in summer 2006.
