Head of Digital Services & Systems
(Tenure-Track), Rollins College Orlando, FL
DESCRIPTION: Rollins College is looking for a service-oriented Librarian enthusiastic
about leading a department responsible for the ongoing development and
deployment of digital resources, services, and systems provided by the Olin
Library and excited about developing digital services and systems for the
liberal arts college library of the 21st century. Reporting to the Library
Director, this is a tenure track faculty position, and the successful candidate
is expected to be appointed as an assistant professor, although previous
experience and qualifications may be taken into account in determining initial
rank.
Management of the Digital Services & Systems
Department and supervision of two faculty librarians and two staff members
responsible for administration of all digital systems deployed by the Olin
Library, including the Sirsi Integrated Library System (ILS), Serials Solutions
Knowledge base, and 360 Suite, the library's web presence, EZProxy, ILLiad,
RefWorks, ContentDM, Turnitin, and all third-party vendor online resources
(article databases etc.) In line with the library's strategic plan, integrate
all library systems and maintain awareness of developing opportunities for
integration within and outside the library. Work closely with Public Services,
Technical Services, and Special Collections & Archives to implement and
develop digital services, systems and resources. Maintain awareness of trends
in ILS and other library systems and advise librarians on library technology
choices. Maintain a close working relationship with appropriate Information
Technology personnel. Assess needs and coordinate library technology training
for all library personnel. Oversee interlibrary loan and collection development
operations of the Olin Library and develop ways to integrate data generated by
both operations into the planning and assessment of library operations. Oversee
the maintenance all usage, licensing, and budgetary data concerning library
operations and effectively incorporate this data into library management,
planning, and liaison. Like all full time librarians at Rollins, the successful
candidate will participate in direct service to users including reference,
instruction, and liaison with academic departments. The level and extent of
participation varies based on other assigned responsibilities.
This is a twelve month appointment. Rollins offers a

degree is required. DESIRED: Preferred qualifications include supervisory
experience and Sirsi ILS administration experience or Solaris/Unix experience
and scripting or programming experience with shell and perl scripts.
The successful candidate will demonstrate most if not all
of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: the potential to lead and
manage a department, the ability to effectively plan projects from vision to
evaluation, the ability to deal with and lead change in a rapidly developing
library environment, the ability to communicate well orally and in writing;
ability to interact with the public effectively and courteously, the ability to
work in a team environment and independently, an appreciation for the liberal
arts and the role of the library in higher education, skills in the
implementation and administration of a variety of computer software used in the
library; demonstrated knowledge and experience with web-based resources, the
ability to collect, manage, and communicate numerical information accurately
and clearly, enthusiasm for teaching and experience with information literacy
instruction with groups and individuals, and the potential to present, publish,
or otherwise contribute to the library profession.
