How to use LITA-IRIG

To subscribe

• Send e-mail to: listproc@ala.org
• Leave the subject line blank. (Put a space if required by your mailer.)
• In message portion put: subscribe lita-irig Yourfirstname Yourlastname
• Your email address will be picked up automatically

To post a message to LITA-IRIG (you must be subscribed)

• Send e-mail to: lita-irig@ala.org

To stop your mail temporarily while you are away

• Send e-mail to: listproc@ala.org
• Leave the subject line blank
• In the body type: set lita-irig mail postpone
• Be sure to delete your signature block, as the list software will try to process it as a command.

Resuming your mail

• Send e-mail to: listproc@ala.org
• Leave the subject blank
• In the body type: set lita-irig mail ack
• Again, no signature block or reference to your name or email address is necessary.

To remove your email address from the LITA-IRIG list

• Send e-mail to: listproc@ala.org
• With the body of the message reading: unsubscribe lita-irig
• Your email address will be matched from the header of the message so you must use the address from which you subscribed.

Problems

• If you get a message back from the Listproc list management software saying that you are not subscribed, but you have been receiving mail, read the error message carefully. The list software is unable to tell that 'jdoe@monster.somewhere.com' is the same as 'jdoe@somewhere.com' specific host names may have changed, or you may be having your mail forwarded from an old address.
• If you encounter this or any other problems, send your current email address and old email address to: lita@ala.org (the LITA Office) and we will assist you with changing your mail settings. Be sure to tell us whether you are trying to postpone mail, or to unsubscribe completely.

To access LITA-IRIG archive

• Go tohttp://lp-web.ala.org:8000/
• Under "options" choose "register for a full account"
• Fill out registration form, user name and password fields are case sensitive, submit form
• You will then be able to use the "registered user area" onhttp://lp-web.ala.org:8000/to gain access to a listing of the discussion lists
• Click on "registered user area"
• Click on the lita-irig mailing list or click on "subscriber" and then "selected lists"
• Once you are on the lita-irig page, click on "list archives". Archives are logged by month, most recent month first.
