Working with NISO, we have been presenting >discussions groups or programs
on standards activities. At ALA Annual a program on the 13 digit ISBN
was presented:

The ISBN standard will soon change from a 10-digit identifier to a
13-digit number. Get on the right track to transitioning to the
enlarged ISBN.  In this managed discussion session you'll find out what
you and>your system vendor need to do to be prepared for this evolution in
one of our community's most important standards. Experts involved in the
ISBN revision process and library systems will be on hand to lead the
discussion and answer your questions.

Speakers: Pat Harris, Executive Director of NISO Brian Green will kick
things off with an overview of the ISBN revision process, major issues
considered, next steps, and an overview of implementation issues;
Ted Koppel will speak to implementation issues impacting the ILS community;
Sally McCallum will speak to how LC is preparing to support the
transition to the 13-digit ISBN.
