Current Activities:

There is now a mailing list for this group (lita-erm@ala.org) that interested persons can sign-up for at http://lists.ala.org/wws/info/lita-erm.

The new officers for the coming year are Chair, Zoe Stewart-Marshall (Cornell) and Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect, Clara A. Ruttenberg (George Washington).

Main discussion:

Ted Koppel (Ex Libris) presented questions for discussion on "The Next ERM Frontier - E-books: Starting to Explore the Landscape." Included areas were usage scenarios (e-reference, e-textbooks, e-reserves, single use, etc.), commercial versus local platforms, description options, discovery tool mechanisms, and digital rights management. Discussion centered on whether changes were needed in the ERM System to handle these needs. Standards updates and other reports:

Electronic Resources & Libraries Forum representatives relayed topics discussed during informal conversations at the 2007 ER&L Conference, NASIG Conference and ACRL, including workflow/workspace planning, improving knowledge base data, staffing, standardized license terms, standardization of publisher holdings data, and the need for consultation services to help implement ERM systems.

The ONIX for Serials SOH (Serials Online Holdings) group is working with vendors on including enumeration data. Coverage statement information is being inserted allowing for notation of publication starts and stops. (See http://www.editeur.org/onixserials.html.) A user guide for SRN (Serials Release Notification) is also now available.

Regarding the "White Paper on Interoperability between Acquistions Modules... and Electronic Resources Managements Systems," Linda Miller (LoC) reported a lack of a sense of urgency from supporters. A new draft of the white paper will be available sometime soon at http://www.haverford.edu/library/DLF_ERMI2/ACQ_ERMS_white_paper.pdf.

The ONIX for Licensing group is working on a set of editing tools and is seeking input from libraries on the level of detail needed in expressing licensing terms. The first draft of ONIX for Publications Licenses is available at http://www.editeur.org/onix_licensing.html.

Future Activities:

Incoming Chair Zoe Stewart-Marshall will solicit ideas for future topics via the lita-erm mailing list.
