CHAIR = Rose Nelson REPORTER = Rose Nelson EMAIL = nelson_r@cde.state.co.us CONFERENCE = Annual MEETING = Business Meeting CURRENT ACTIVITIES = ETIG had two very successful programs at Annual. Policies and Practices of an Institutional Repository included 5 panel speakers from a variety of universities, who discussed the practical aspects of implementing digital repositories. 201 people attended the program which went the entire 2 1/2 hours alloted. We also hosted the program, "What's In Store for Google Print and Google Scholar?" This program which also consisted of a moderated panel discussion drew a crowd of about 550. Because of the scale of these programs the IG business meeting was precluded. FUTURE ACTIVITIES = We are considering the following ideas for future programs: The use of mp3/ipods as a substitution for hard cds/audio books and image libraries. The rapidly growing area of wi-fi positioning. More specifically, we are looking at how Wi- fi can make the physical world more searchable and user friendly in the way that the digital world has gone some distances to do so. |
