Swap & Shop 2007
The 2007 Swap & Shop program, “Celebrate PR!”, will take place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 24, in the Washington Convention Center Special Events Area, behind Aisle 600 on the exhibit floor, during the ALA Annual Conference.
The event will showcase library promotional materials (reading promotions for children, teens, adults and families, plus annual reports, newsletters, bibliographies, fund-raising materials, and much more) submitted by hundreds of libraries of all types and sizes. Also on display will be the winners of the Best of Show competition, a selection of the best individual public relations materials produced in the past year.
Stop by, pick up a free Swap & Shop tote bag courtesy of JanWay, and create your own library PR “idea kit.”
Even better, show off your PR stuff by contribute materials to Swap & Shop. Share your library’s best marketing and promotional items with colleagues. We’ll display them proudly at this event. Just send 100-200 copies of your materials to (please use the Swap & Shop shipping label):

In addition, Swap & Shop features more than just samples of materials. · If you want to talk to any of the Best of Show winners about their ideas, consider attending the Best of Show awards ceremony at 12:30 p.m. · The PR Makeover is back for a third consecutive year! Linda Wallace and Peggy Barber of Library Communication Strategies will showcase a makeover of one library’s public relations materials, and be on hand to discuss how to improve your own · Representatives from the John Cotton Dana Library Public Relations Award will be present, as will some of the 2007 JCD winners! Enter your best library public relations materials in the LAMA/PRMS Swap & Shop Best of Show competition. Judges will select winners based on content, originality, design, format and effectiveness. Winning entries will be on display during the Swap & Shop program scheduled for Sunday, June 24, 2007, from 11am to 1:30 pm during the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in
Directions: Complete (print or type) one Best of Show Entry form for each individual submission. Attach the completed form to exactly four (4) copies of your entry and submit to the below address. If you are submitting copies of your library’s home page, capture the page on a CD and send four (4) such CDs with your entry form. Entries must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2007.
Remember: · For consideration in the competition, an entry must have been produced during the 2006 calendar year. · A library may only submit one entry per category. That category must be marked in step 3. · An entry cannot be entered in more than one category and must be entered in the category most closely describing the piece. · Incomplete submissions and/or entry forms may result in elimination from the competition.
