Committee & Discussion Group Reports · All Committee Discussion: Chris Filstrup and Mark Day led a thought-provoking discussion on “Library Management and Leadership: Theory Versus Practice.” The topic of discussion at the All Committee meeting in Orlando will be Ginny Steele’s theme “Transforming Organizational Leadership in a Time of Change.” · Comparative Library Organization: The Toronto program, “Library Management and Leadership: Theory Versus Practice” was very successful. Papers from the program appear in the Winter 2004 issue of LA&M. The Committee is working on a program for 2005. · Financial Management: The Committee is writing an article for LA&M on strategies for cutting library budgets and working on a program for 2005 on current economic environments in libraries. · Fiscal and Business Officers Discussion Group: The San Diego meeting was well-attended. · Nominating Committee: The 2004 slate has been completed. · Organization Development Discussion Group: No report. · Planning and Evaluating Library Services: PELS is continuing to develop the Library Service Assessment Clearinghouse (LSAC) web page which is linked to the PELS web page. PELS is also maintaining an online list of recent planning and evaluation publications. The Committee is planning a program for 2005on evaluating information commons in libraries. · Risk Management and Insurance: Progress is being made on the Committee’s book and they are working on a program for 2005. Outcomes & Action Items · Create listservs for LOMS leaders and the general membership. · Develop strategies for recruiting new listserv members. · Develop a LOMS website containing the information needed to plan, carry out and document LOMS activities. · Co-sponsor two programs in Orlando. · Complete two publications. · Develop four programs for 2005. |
