b. School Library Campaign with AASL

Goals and Objectives

·         Increase public awareness of the significant contributions made by school library media specialists through school library media programs to further the academic achievement and lifelong learning of our students;

·         Strengthen a belief in the value of school library media programs and school library media specialists;

  • Position school librarianship as a desirable career opportunity.

Activities

·         Creation of Member Taskforce

·         Research

·         Toolkit/Web site

·         Training

  • Campaign Launch/National Media Relations Effort

Status

·         More than 12,000 toolkits were distributed to AASL members and national conference attendees

·         Conference programs and workshops have taken place at Annual Conference and Midwinter Meetings

  • Campaign to be featured at AASL National Conference “Exploratorium” in October 2005
