RESOLUTION ON ADVANCED TRAINING COURSE ON INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTATION
WHEREAS a major recommendation of the International Symposium on the Documentation of the United Nations and other Intergovernmental Organizations, Geneva, August 21-23, 1972, organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and sponsored by UNESCO, International Federation of Documentation (FID) and Association of International Libraries (AIL) was that there should be advanced training courses for persons responsible for the dissemination and servicing of international documentation and
WHEREAS the first of such Courses has been successfully organized and presented by UNITAR in Geneva in February/March 1974 and
WHEREAS the recommendation of the Symposium was that the Courses be held on a regular basis and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: The Task Force on International Documents of the Government Documents Round Table, American Library Association, would urge UNITAR as the organizer of the 1974 Course to hold a course in the United States. The Task Force would suggest late 1975 and that a number of candidates be drawn from North America.
The resolution was adopted by the Task Force 8 July, by GODORT 9 July, and by the ALA Membership 12 July.
