Hotel Reservation Information

Special hotel rates through the ALA Housing and Travel desk are no longer available.

You may change or cancel an existing reservation online or by phone at 1-800-974-9833. We will continue to accept cancels and changes based on availability through January 3, 2008. For changes or cancels after January 3, please contact your hotel directly beginning January 5.

Airline Reservation Information
United Airlines is offering special meeting discounts for attendees of the ALA Midwinter Meeting, a 2-10% discount off applicable fares, including First Class. If you purchase your ticket at least 30 days prior to travel, you will receive an additional 5% discount. Simply call the United Special Meeting Desk at 800-521-4041 and refer to Meeting ID Number 500CR, or go online at www.united.com, and on the search page click on "More Search Options" and enter 500CR in the "Electronic certificate or promotion code" box.

This special offer applies to travel on domestic segments of all United Airlines, United Express, TED and United code share flights (UA*) operated by US Airways, US Airways Express and Air Canada. There are no fees to use the 800 number or to book online.

International attendees will receive a 10% discount off the lowest applicable fare (excluding First Class), or a 15% discount off the fully refundable, unrestricted coach fare when they call their local United Airlines reservation number and refer to meeting ID number 500CR. An additional 5% discount will apply when tickets are purchased at least 60 days in advance of your travel dates. Discounts apply to United and Lufthansa (code share) flights. You can also make your reservation at www.united.com and using the code 500CR.

Experient will provide custom itineraries with the lowest applicable air fares and best journey time. The United Discounts above are available through the ALA Travel Desk, as well as flights on other airlines, using the information below. To make reservations through the ALA Travel Desk, call toll-free, 1-800-621-1083 (847-940-1176, outside the U.S. and Canada) 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CST, Monday through Friday. $22.00 service fee per airline ticket issued. Save $5.00 when you book online.

To book online travel through Experient, go to www.travelport.net/registration. You will be asked to register. The Company Name is ALA. The Pin Number is QABSCK93. Please enter the information, as instructed, which will grant you access to book your flights on-line, anytime.

Helpful hints: Once you are prompted to “Go To Travelport”, you will be sent to the Experient Welcome page. The New User ID is your email address (that you entered on the registration page). The Password is the password you provided on the registration page. For security measures, you will be asked to change your password. Once you have completed these tasks you are authorized to book air travel. The service fee is $17.00. Experient will append any discount related to your meeting, as applicable. To return to the site in the future, simply go to www.travelport.net.

Airport Transportation Information
The Philadelphia International Airport is the closest airport. Details on this airport are available at http://www.phl.org/index.html.

Taxi Services:
Taxi services can be picked up at Zone 5 on the Commercial Transportation Roadway. All Taxi rates are based per trip not per person. Most taxis can accommodate up to 3 passengers. In some cases certain vehicle types can accommodate 4 passengers. $25.00 Flat Rate from the Airport to the Central Philadelphia Area.

Should you need to pay by credit card please advise the dispatcher upon your arrival to the Taxi area as all companies do not accept credit cards or vouchers as a form of payment. Taxi Dispatch is available 24 hours a day.

High Speed Rail Service
The R1 High Speed Rail Line (Entrance on pedestrian bridges and commercial roadway) is $5.50 one-way to the following stops near the Pennsylvania Convention Center: Suburban Station, MarketEast/The Gallery.

Shuttle Buses
Shuttle Bus reservations can be made by calling providers. A list of providers is available from the Philadelphia International Airport website at http://www.phl.org/ground_transportation.html#ground. Contact the providers that serve "Center City".

Bus and Train Travel

Amtrak: Nine Amtrak train routes terminate in or pass through Philadelphia at the 30th Street Station at 2955 Market St., and connect to most major Amtrak lines. Amtrak offers a 10% discount off the lowest applicable fare for reservations made over the phone at 800- 872-7245, using Fare Code X31Q-923. Greyhound: Greyhound buses arrive and depart 24 hours a day from the stations at 2100 S. Broad St and 5608 N. Broad Street. For information, contact Greyhound at 800-229-9424 or go online at www.greyhound.com.

Rental Cars
