How to Register
Advance Registration for the Midwinter Meeting is now closed. Registration is still available at the onsite rate.

Events Requiring Additional Registration
Some events, such as Pre-Midwinter Institutes and some banquets and receptions, are not included in the full Meeting registration price. Details on these events are available here. Advance registration is now closed for these institutes and other events. Please contact the sponsoring unit for availability and instructions for onsite registration at 1-800-545-2433.


Onsite Registration Information and Check in

The Registration Counters will be located in the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Grand Hall West.

Registration hours:

Friday, January 11: 8:00 am - 7:30 pm
Saturday, January 12 - Sunday, January 13: 7:30 am - 5:00 pm
Monday, January 14: 7:30 am - 2:00 pm

If you registered by November 30, and received your badge in the mail:

  • Bring your photo ID, badge and expocard with you (the badge is the card with your name on it)
  • Go to the "Badge Holder Pickup" counter in the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Grand Hall West, to check-in and receive your conference materials
  • If you need to make changes to your badge, go instead to the "Will Call" counter in the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Grand Hall West
If you register prior to the meeting, but DO NOT receive your badge in the mail:
  • Bring your photo ID, and a copy of your registration receipt with you
  • Go to the "Will Call" counter in the Registration area in the Washington Convention Center to receive your badge, expocard, and conference materials
If you want to register onsite (including purchasing an exhibits pass):
  • Bring your photo ID with you
  • Go to the "Onsite Registration" area in the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Grand Hall West and first get a registration form
  • Once you have filled out a form, get in the "Onsite Registration" line (do not get in line without a form)
  • Onsite rates for the full meeting, as well as exhibit only rates, are listed above. You also have the option to register for a single day of the meeting (see below). To receive member rates, bring your memeber ID or number with you.
Single Day Registration Fee (paid onsite only):
ALA Personal Member*: $130
ALA student member**: $57
Non-Member: $200

Daily fees are charged onsite only, and allow an attendee to register for just one day of the meeting.

  • Go to the "Onsite Regsistration" counter to find out what is available and to purchase tickets

Non-Members: Join ALA and Save!
Non-Members and Former Members of ALA are invited to join the association to receive both the member registration discount as well as ongoing benefits to your career and professional knowledge that comes from membership.

Exhibit Only and Exhibits Plus Registration
Visit the exhibits only, for $25. An Exhibits Only badge is good for all 4 days of the exhibits (Friday evening, Saturday-Monday) only. The Exhibits Plus badge includes all four days of the exhibits, plus the three Sunrise Speaker Series sessions. Exhibit Only and Exhibits Plus badges will be available for advance registration, as well as for purchase on site. No refunds for Exhibits Only or Plus registration. Learn more about the Exhibits.

Confirmations
ALA Registration office will e-mail or mail a registration confirmation to all registered attendees. If you do not receive a written confirmation within three weeks, please call ALA’s Customer Service Center at 800-545-2433 to verify your registration status.

Badges
If registration is received by the advance deadline, your badge will be mailed to you no later than two weeks before the conference. If you registered online after the advance deadline or your registration was faxed or postmarked after the deadline, you will need to pick up your badge at the Will Call/Corrections Counter at Registration in the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Badges will not be sent to countries other than the U.S. and Canada. Residents of other nations may pick up badges at the Will Call/Corrections Counter in the Convention Center.

Refunds and Cancellations
Substitutions are welcome at any time. Otherwise, registration cancellations must be made in writing and postmarked or faxed by the advance registration deadline. Cancellations will result in a full refund less a $25 processing fee. No phone cancellations will be accepted. No refunds for cancellations postmarked after the advance registrationd deadline. No ”Exhibits Only” refunds. Refunds will be processed after the Midwinter Meeting.

Children's Policy
Strollers are permitted on the exhibit floor, but only if there is a child in them at all times. Unescorted children are not permitted on the exhibit floor. Children under the age of five must be restrained at all times (stroller, back pack, etc.). Any child over the age of five must have an exhibits only badge to be admitted to the exhibit floor. These badges are available at onsite registration for $25. An adult must accompany all children under the age of 16.

Meal Policy
Meals are not included with regular Meeting registration. Some institutes, workshops and banquets include meals as part of an additional ticket price. This information is included with the description of the event.
