Dorm Housing Information
Dorm housing is now available. If you are looking for a more economical housing alternative, ALA has reserved a limited number of rooms at Ryerson University. This is dorm housing, so it doesn't have the amenities of a hotel, but it is clean, safe and will have the Gale-sponsored shuttle buses, as well as a nearby subway station.
All rooms will be in Pitman Hall on the Ryerson campus at 160 Mutual Street, a few blocks from the Toronto Eaton Centre and the subway station at Yonge & Dundas. All rooms are single occupanc, with baths shared with 1-4 other single rooms. Maid service and in-room telephones with free local calls will be provided. Pitman Hall has a mini-gym and each floor includes a community kitchenette, laundry facilities and lounges with cable TV.
You can register for dorm housing using the dorm housing form. There have been some changes to this form since publication in the March issue of American Libraries. Please read the new payment information carefully.
NEW PAYMENT INFORMATION:
Please note: This information has changed since the publication of the Preliminary Program in the March issue of American Libraries Magazine.
The cost is $65 CDN/$44.82 USD per night for a single bedroom. Checks in American dollars can be made out to: ExpoExchange. Payment can also be made on the form using a credit card. Please multiply the number of nights of your stay by $44.82 USD.
Airline Reservation Information
You have several options for making your airline reservations:
- You can make your airline reservations by calling ITS at 1-800-621-1083, or through the secure ITS airline website. ALA attendees receive a 5% discount off any restricted published United airlines fare, and a 10% discount off of any unrestricted, fully refundable coach fares, for reservations made up to the day of departure. An additional 5% discount is available on unrestricted fares for reservations made 30 days in advance. To receive these discounts, CALL ITS at 1-800-621-1083 or United at 1-800-521-4041, and provided Meeting ID # 101605000008107. These discounts are only available for reservations made through ITS, or over the phone with United.
- The United Airline internet reservations number is now available!
American Library Association is pleased to announce that it has been able to secure a special discount agreement with United Airlines unavailable to the general public. A 10% discount off the lowest applicable fare will be offered when booking your meeting travel at united.com. Discounts apply on United Airlines and United Express qualifying flights. Mileage Plus members receive full credit for all miles flown to this meeting.
Visit the United website at www.united.com. After you link to united.com, select create itinerary, login as a guest or registered user, enter your origin and destination, travel dates and and enter E-Certificate Number 101605000008107. Then the website will display the available flights. Flights that qualify for the discount will be clearly identified with a green star symbol, which means that the itinerary is "electronic certificate eligible". When you select an electronic certificate eligible flight, the site will automatically calculate and present your discounted fare.
NOTE: Not all flights are eligible for an electronic certificate discount. In some instances you may find flights that are not electronic certificate eligible, because they have already been discounted and are less expensive than the electronic certificate eligible flights.
Hotel Deadlines, Cancellations and Confirmations
Hotel reservation requests will be accepted until April 26, 2003, subject to availability. All rooms are subject to applicable tax, currently at 14% for hotel tax. After April 26, 2003, the ITS will continue to make reservations on a space available basis only. Book early to get the hotel of your choice!
Confirmation of room reservation will be acknowledge by ITS within 72 hours. Any questions regarding your reservation should be directed to ITS at 1-800-424-5249, not the hotel.
