Housing Registration and Cancellation Deadlines
You must be registered for the ALA 2010 Midwinter Meeting before you may register for housing. The deadline for ALA 2010 Midwinter Meeting housing is December 11, 2009. Rooms are assigned on a "first come/first served" basis and room availability for your arrival and departure. Failure to check into your hotel room on the scheduled date of your arrival will result in the cancellation of your reservation and a charge equal to one night's room and tax to the credit card used to guarantee your reservation. All changes and/or cancellations prior to January 5, 2010, must be made through the ALA Housing Headquarters. After January 5, 2010 changes and cancellations must be made directly to the hotel at least 72 hours prior to arrival date.
Airline Reservation Information- New Information
Logan Airport (BOS) is located in East Boston, serving the city of Boston and the greater New England area.Logan International Airport has five terminals, with an expanded Terminal E, airport transit facilities, and parking. A comprehensive range of amenities and services at Logan Airport is available to travelers, including gift, news, and duty-free shops, restaurants, and banking and currency services. Wireless Internet access and a manicure service are also available. A choice of ground transportation options includes car rental, shuttles, MBTA buses, taxis, and water taxis, with the airport just four miles (six kilometers) northeast of Boston.

Airport Transportation Information
Free Airport Shuttle-( Proof of hotel reservation in ALA hotel block and sign up required)You will receive a free airport shuttle ticket from the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center to Logan International Airport on Monday, Jan 18, 2010 if you reserve a room in the ALA hotel block though Experient (our registration company). You must sign up for the ride at the shuttle supervisor table located at the shuttle drop-off location at the convention center. You must keep your ticket to present to the bus driver when boarding for the airport. Tickets are not transferable. Exhibitors are included.
Ultimate Shuttle Special Offer: Flat rate shared ride service available from Boston Logan International Airport to all hotels within ALA's block as well as the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. 10% discount off published rates will apply. Train, Bus Travel, Taxis and Rental Car Information
Amtrak: Valid for Travel: January 12, 2010- January 22, 2010
Amtrak offers a 10% discount off the lowest available rail fare to Boston, MA between the above dates. Includes travel up to three days prior to the convention start date and three days following the last day of the meeting. To book your reservation call Amtrak at 1 (800) 872-7245 or contact your local travel agent. Please refer to Convention Fare Code X98Y-968 when making your reservation; a 10% discount has been approved. When calling 1800-872-7245 you need to say "operator" or "agent" during the automated calling to be referred to a live agent. A live operator can confirm the code for the American Libraries Association group with the discount code. Conventions cannot be booked via Internet. This offer is not valid on the Auto Train and Acela service. Offer valid with Sleepers, Business Class or First Class seats with payment of the full applicable accommodation charges. Fare is valid on Amtrak Regional all departures seven days a week, except for holiday blackouts.

Rental Car Information
AVIS Rental Car: If you plan to travel while you are in Boston, ALA has negotiated exclusive rates with AVIS for rental cars during the meeting. For rates and reservations call 800-331-1212. You must mention the AVIS AWD#D005980, when calling to receive the special ALA rate.
Parking at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center
For self parking turn into the east side entrance off Summer Street and continue to the end of the building, turn right and go down the ramp. At the bottom, turn left and you will see the entrance to the "South Parking Lot." Shuttle buses run continuously between the lot and building entrance. Self parking is $10 all day.
Free ALA Shuttles and Public Transit
Free ALA Shuttle Buses, sponsored by Gale Cengage Learning- The shuttle buses will operate between all participating hotels and the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center during the meeting. Service will also be provided for attendees with disabilities (advance notice is required). Shuttle bus schedules (including daily pickup times, locations and destinations) will be published in Cognotes ( the daily show newspaper available during the meeting) and will be available onsite.
