Emerging Leaders Present Results
Interface Volume 29 Number 2, Summer, 2007. Interface is the quarterly newsletter published by the ASCLA division of the ALA. The Emerging Leader '07 initiative includes 23 groups of individuals who have been working virtually on a project related to ALA or a professional concern, helped by an ALA staff person and a mentor from the profession. ASCLA is sponsoring Robin Rousu as their emerging leader.

Emerging Leaders Present Their Results

Curious about ALA President Leslie Burger’s Emerging Leaders program? Attend the poster session on Friday, June 22, from 3-5
P.M., where the 116 participants’ projects will be presented. The poster session will be held as the closing event of EL ’07.
Since Midwinter in January, 23 groups have been working virtually on a project related to ALA or a professional concern,
helped by an ALA staff person and a mentor from the profession.
Participants in EL ’07 come from 41 states and a variety of types of libraries. The majority are from public or academic
libraries. Almost half of the group were sponsored by a division, chapter, or affiliate of ALA; the rest were sponsored
by state associations or other groups. ASCLA’s representative Robin Rousu, Washington Talking Book & Braille Library,

by the Massachusetts Library Association.
The location of the poster session on June 22 will probably be in the Washington Convention Center. All are welcome. For
location information, a list of participants and a list of the projects, check out the
wiki. Each project has its own page there and you will
also find background and other materials relating to EL ’07.
Emerging Leaders began as one of ALA President Leslie Burger’s six initiatives. ALA is committed to making this program
available annually. Information about EL ’08 will also be posted to the wiki in the spring. Connie Paul and consultant
Maureen Sullivan are administering the current program and they will also be heading EL ’08.
