ICAN is the InterLibrary Cooperation & Networking Section of the Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA). Join us if you are interested in interlibrary cooperation and networks. ICAN provides discussions, programs, and planning activities for the effective delivery of quality library services through multitype library networks--local, state, multistate, national, and international.

ICAN offers the personal contact necessary for directors, staff, and board members of multitype networks to develop new ideas, examine issues, and solve problems. Follow this link to list of Executive Committee members.

Why should I join ASCLA ICAN?

"For me, attending ALA is a valuable experience primarily because of ICAN. I come home from every conference with a half dozen new ideas from the people and programs at ICAN sessions."—Sara Laughlin, Indiana Cooperative Library Services Authority

"ICAN serves as a "think tank" within ALA that is extremely useful for those who manage and implement interlibrary cooperation. Uniquely, it provides the framework for addressing issues in this area from a universal, rather than just a technical perspective."—Laurence Miller, Director, Florida International University Libraries

"ICAN provides a forum to meet and network with colleagues. The problem-solving techniques others are utilizing to address telecommunication issues and the mutual support given by others involoved in cooperative ventures are incomparable resources."—Janet A. Ohles, National Network of Libraries of Medicine
