Application Process for Randolph Caldecott Medal

To submit works for consideration for the Caldecott Award:

  • Review the terms and criteria for the award. 
  • Send one copy of the work to the ALSC office (50 East Huron, Chicago, IL 60611-2795). Please indicate for which award the submission is intended. 
  • Submit one copy of the work to the award committee chair. You have the option of sending a copy of the work to each committee member, but it is not required.

Deadline for submitting works is December 31 of the publication year for all ALSC awards and children's notables.

Instructions for publishers, authors/illustrators, and distributors on how to submit books for consideration for the Caldecott Medal, awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
