Borrowing and Lending Books for Exhibition

Created by the ALSC National Planning of Special Collections Committee (2002)

As collections in many local libraries age, some materials acquire an aspect of historical significance. Librarians are faced with new challenges regarding collection management and development. Among these challenges are opportunities for sharing special items with other institutions through exhibits. This Web page offers guidelines for librarians planning to borrow original materials and books from another institution for exhibition purposes, and for librarians who will lend materials for exhibition.
