Building a Home Library Bibliographies
The ALA-Children’s Book Council (CBC) Joint Committee, with cooperation from the Association for Library Service to Children’s (ALSC) Quicklists Consulting Committee, has released a set of four bibliographies, "Building a Home Library," intended to provide guidance to parents, grandparents, and others interested in assembling a high-quality library for their children at home.

Kids, Know Your Rights!
A young person's guide to intellectual freedom written to students in grades five and up. Includes bibliography. A downloadable, full-color PDF brochure.
El día de los niños/El día de los libros
This celebration, held annually on April 30th, emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for every child regardless of linguistic and cultural background. This online version of ALSC's El Día brochure provides tips for parents on reading to children and using the local library as a valuable resource. The online brochure is also available in Spanish.
Every Child Ready to Read - downloadable brochures
Parent guides to early literacy -- addressing why parents are so important in helping their children get ready to read and six pre-reading skills that every child can start learning from birth.
Born to Read
This online brochure offers tips for parents on how to raise a reader by reading to baby from birth on. It includes tips on how and when to share books and a list of recommended books for infants and toddlers. The online brochure is also available in Spanish [PDF].
Between the Lions
ALSC continues its collaborative effort with the PBS children's television series "Between the Lions," which aims to help teach children how to read. A tipsheet for librarians also includes tips for parents on reading aloud to children, choosing good books, and raising a lifelong reader.
