Trailblaze Your Path to Library Success: Professional Development with a Youth Services Focus!

Salt Lake City (SLC), Utah
September 18-20, 2008

All educational programs will be held at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center.

Trailblaze your path to library success while attending the ALSC National Institute.  The Institute is a two and a half day intensive learning opportunity with a youth services focus and is designed for youth library staff, children’s literature experts, education and library school faculty members, and other interested adults.

There are three easy ways to register:

  1. Mail your completed form to: ALSC Institute, 50 East Huron Street, Chicago, IL 60611
  2. Fax your completed registration form to 312-280-5271 (Credit Cards only). 
  3. Click to Register online by credit card (Beginning May 1, 2008).

Rates:  The registration fee includes Institute materials; Thursday dinner; Friday breakfast, lunch, and evening reception; and Saturday breakfast.

ALSC member (early bird rate through 6/30/08) - $350
ALSC member advance registration (7/1/08 - 8/20/08) - $385
ALA member- $400
Non-member- $425
Student rate- $310

    • All registration deadlines refer to date of postmark or fax. Also, please see the Cancellation and Refund Policy at the bottom of the page.
    • Join ALSC and save on registration!  Complete a membership application and return with your Institute registration form
    • Additional single tickets for the Thursday dinner, Friday Breakfast for Bill, Friday luncheon, and Friday reception are available for purchase in case you would like to have a traveling companion join you.  Please refer to the registration brochure for pricing.

 A special hotel block has been secured at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center (255 South West Temple, Salt Lake City, UT, 84101). 

Single/Double: $149;   Triple: $164;   Quad: $179 
(The special group rate will apply two days prior/post Institute dates for those that wish to take personal time to explore Utah’s delights).

Association Connection

First time attendees, there’s no need to fear the Wild West this September! Simply sign-up for ALSC’s Association Connection program to get roped-in with seasoned ALSC members and fellow new members.  Association Connection will feature engaging networking activities and fun short programs, so don’t let this group ride off into the great wide yonder without you!

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Registration is limited. Registration deadline is August 20, 2008. Substitutions are welcome at any time. Otherwise, registration cancellations must be made in writing and postmarked or faxed by August 20, 2008. Cancellations will result in a full refund less a $25 processing fee. No phone cancellations will be accepted. Refunds will be processed after October 3, 2008.

No refunds will be given after the registration deadline date for any reason other than hospitalization or death. In the case of hospitalization or death of registrant or immediate family member, including parent, sibling, spouse, or child, ALSC will refund registration fees paid, minus a $25 handling fee. Proof of hospitalization and/or funerary services must be attached to refund letter.

These workshops and tours are on a cost-recovery basis. ALSC reserves the right to cancel the Institute, or any portion of, if there is insufficient registration or for other reasons. Neither ALA nor any of its divisions are responsible for cancellation charges assessed by airlines or travel agencies, or other losses incurred in the cancellation of the Institute.
