CLIR is an independent, nonprofit organization with 13 staff members dedicated to improving the management of information for research, teaching, and learning and to expanding information access as a public good. Davenport told American Libraries, “I believe the value of CLIR is in extending collaborations; it’s a table to which parties can be invited to see if they can find commonality.”
During her 26 years at the Library of Congress, Davenport’s duties also included heading the Congressional Research Service Inquiry Section and directing special programs. She is also a member of the American Library Association’s Executive Board.
