Board members had expressed frustration at their January meeting with having to allow guns in the library, but concluded that the rule had to change to adhere to Michigan law, the February 27 Muskegon Chronicle reported.
However, the board reaffirmed its ban on wearing wooden shoes in the building, even though the footgear is only worn in May by traditional Dutch “klompen” dancers during the city’s Tulip Time festival. Library Director Tom Genson said in the February 27 Holland Sentinel that the shoes catch in the carpet and leave slivers behind.
