Didier Named Director of Ford Presidential Library

Elaine K. Didier, professor and former dean of the Kresge Library at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, has been named director of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum effective January 10. She replaces Dennis Daellenbach, who retired January 1. The library and museum are a single institution, but the library is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and the museum is located in Grand Rapids.

In announcing the appointment, Archivist of the United States John W. Carlin praised Didier for her “wealth of experience as a leader in higher education in Michigan and as an executive leader facilitating outreach and alliances in support of learning programs.”

Before her work at Oakland, Didier held a number of positions at the University of Michigan from 1977 to 1999, including director of academic outreach, associate dean of the Rackham School of Graduate Studies, and director of information resources for the School of Business Administration. She has served as president of the Michigan Library Association and is currently a member of the American Library Association’s governing council and the Association of College and Research Libraries’ executive board.
