The gift came from Miriam Mulva, a member of the college board of trustees, and her husband James Mulva, chairman and chief executive officer of the oil firm ConocoPhillips. “We like to direct our giving toward youth and education,” said Miriam Mulva in a statement, “and the fact that St. Norbert needs a multipurpose library made a good fit for us.”
“We’re really grateful for this gift. It will help create our most important academic building,” said St. Norbert President William Hynes at a news conference reported in the February 9 Green Bay Press-Gazette. “For the first time ever, we’ve been able to design a modern library from the ground up. This is a building that will fit the students and faculty like a glove, a place where teaching and learning will take place.”
Construction on the $20-million, 80,000-square-foot library, which will be named for the Mulvas, is expected to begin in two to four years.
