Congress Passes Museum and Library Services Act ReauthorizationThe House of Representatives passed a final version of the Museum and Library Services Act September 16. The legislation, which was passed by the Senate August 1, now goes to President Bush for his signature. It reauthorizes the Museum and Library Services Act through 2009; increases the base amount of the formula distribution to states in the Library Services and Technology Act; sets the authorization level for library programs for FY 2004 at $232 million (up from $150 million); and creates a joint library-museum advisory board for the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
