
Szynaka told the Indianapolis Star September 7 that lingering questions about why he was terminated have put his career in limbo. While the board maintains Szynaka was fired “without cause,” a June 19 report by the library’s attorney raised questions about contracts signed while he worked there, and Szynaka said the board needs to make clear he did nothing wrong.
“My professional career is significantly damaged. I hope it’s not permanently damaged,” he said, noting that headhunters who approached him for two out-of-state systems made it plain the situation needed to be cleared up before they offered him a job.
A library audit report is scheduled for release in late September.
