Yale Book Thief Released in Bombing Investigation

State corrections officials returned Benjamin Johnson to his parents’ home after questioning him in connection with last month’s bomb incident at the Yale Law Library in New Haven, Connecticut. The former worker at Yale’s Beinecke Library is serving out a supervised-parole sentence for stealing rare documents from the library.

Johnson’s lawyer Penn Rhodeen said a community-service officer had discovered a notebook belonging to Johnson that mentioned explosives, the Associated Press reported June 11. However, Rhodeen said Johnson often wrote down “exciting passages” from novels that he was reading.
