Muhammad’s Noodles Cancel Fines in Kansas CityA Kansas City (Mo.) Public Library patron brought in more than 600 packages of ramen noodles to the library’s Southeast branch June 14 in order to pay off over $600 in outstanding fines owed by his family and anyone else with the last name of Muhammad.The incentive was KCPL’s annual food drive, which allows those who have racked up fines to get out of debt by donating a can or package of nonperishable goods for each dollar due. Muhammad only owed $100, so he decided to bail out his namesakes as a humanitarian gesture. It took him two trips to deliver all the noodles, the Kansas City Star reported June 17. “I’ve never seen so many packages of ramen noodles,” said Branch Manager Gretchen Dombrock.
