
Less than an hour after announcing the $90.2 million in restorations, Bloomberg signed a bill to raise the city sales tax by one-eighth of one percent, which will net some $120 million more per year. The June 5 New York Times reported that the budget situation was also looking somewhat brighter due to federal-aid commitments and an expected $2.7-billion state aid and tax package.
City council voted to extend the budget deadline another eight days to June 13.
