City of Mesa (Ariz.) Library Director Patsy Hansel resigned December 8, following a city investigation that found she had retaliated against an administrator who had backed Janice Gennevois, the staffer who claimed that Hansel sexually harassed her.
“We think it’s in the best interest of the city that we’re able to part company in this fashion,” Mesa deputy City Manager Debbie Dollar said in the December 9 Mesa East Valley Tribune. “Now there’s closure to this issue.”
Hansel agreed to forgo any future litigation against the city and will remain on paid administrative leave until December 31.
Gennevois, who had transferred out of the library and in October settled a lawsuit with the city for $87,000, told the Tribune that she would consider taking back her library job.
