EBSCO Completes Its RoweCom Integration

EBSCO Industries, the Birmingham, Alabama–based journal subscription agency, announced December 2 it will continue operating in the Boston area through the former RoweCom office in Westwood, Massachusetts. The company finalized its acquisition of the bankrupt RoweCom in June.

Operations Manager Susan Kalalas, who has been with the Westwood office since 1971 when it was known as the Faxon Company, said that EBSCO was focusing on merging systems and personnel in a way that will best serve customers, adding, “The remaining team at Westwood looks forward to applying our skills to support customers and the various EBSCO regional offices in North America.”

After a challenging year balancing the needs of library subscribers and publishers, EBSCO regards the takeover as a success. “For us, key measures of success include the volume of renewals processed for 2004 and the level of customer satisfaction,” said EBSCO Subscription Services Vice President and CFO Allen Powell. “Renewal season is beginning to wind down, and we are pleased so far with the renewal activity and customer feedback.”
